Marcos Sorensen
Albany, CA
Marcos Sorensen calls himself a Pulp Surrealist painter, illustrator, and designer whose work weaves mid-century noir intrigue with graphic precision. Operating out of his East Bay studio in Albany, California, Marcos brings over three decades of professional experience across commercial illustration and digital product design, including originating the iconic Ask Jeeves character. Beneath his extensive design portfolio lies a dedicated studio practice rooted in classic cinema, hardboiled paperbacks, conceptual thinking and lowbrow surrealism. His paintings blend architectural geometry, industrial mechanics, and shadow into moody narrative scenes caught between a 1940s frame and a fever dream. He is currently expanding his Mount RushNoir series, crafting bold, monument-scale portraits of classic cinema’s ultimate femme fatales.
