I am a textile artist living in Oakland, California. My primary art form is quilting because I love fabric and thrive on intuitively piecing and hand stitching new life into repurposed cloth. I am intrigued with second-use fabric because it carries unknowable stories. Generally I make work to repair and explore my relationship with this life. I am incorporating photographs into my pieces now to play with the idea of memory and conjuring of lost things, places, and people. My process usually starts with an idea from a dream or from something that floats past my attention in other ways. Then I begin to associate cloth with the idea. The materials have voices of their own, and I listen to them. Shape and form comes out of that. I am drawn to traditional processes and I enjoy defying them a little or a lot. My work has shown in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2014, and my quilts have been juried in to the Pacific International Quilt Festival (2022) and QuiltCon (2023).
